 |  |  | Scrip World Pharmaceutical News hosted the 5th Annual Scrip Awards at London's Grosvenor House Hotel. More than 500 guests donned black tie and attended the glittering gala to pay tribute to their peers at the pharmaceutical industry's most prestigious and hotly-contested awards event. "This year's Scrip Awards achieved our aim of highlighting the many outstanding achievements in the field of drug development, despite the gruelling financial climate," said Alex Shimmings, Editor of Scrip. While no one company swept the board in 2009, Amgen and Novartis were the night's biggest winners, each collecting two awards. Professor George Poste CBE, former SmithKline executive and founder of the Biodesign Institute at Arizona University, was acknowledged with Scrip's Lifetime Achievement Award.
