Sanofi-Aventis prepares generic Plavix for Europe

Sanofi-Aventis is preparing to launch a generic version of its antithrombotic Plavix (clopidogrel) in Europe, the firm told Scrip. The company hopes to counter sales of generics competing with the billion dollar pharmaceutical, which is beginning to lose patent protection.
